Canadian operator Globalive said that Canadian mobile operators should be able to access foreign capital, in order to enable new players to participate effectively in a forthcoming 4G spectrum auction. According to Dow Jones Newswires, Anthony Lacavera, chairman of Globalive, said that the government should introduce rules to ensure that the incumbent operators are not able to buy spectrum at the expense of new entrants, stating that “this auction represents the battleground for future competition in Canada.”
