Garmin confirmed speculation that it is to end its co-branded handset business with Asustek Computer, stating that the companies will offer no more joint handset models going forward. Asus will continue to design and manufacture new mobile handsets of its own, “some of which will include preloaded Garmin navigation and LBS applications.” Garmin will expand its mobile handset development and plans to offer navigation and other applications through certain consumer application stores. Since forming the alliance in 2009, six Garmin-Asus devices have been offered.
