United Arab Emirates operator du announced plans to use “small cells” technology from Alcatel-Lucent to power its fixed-mobile convergence services, which are due to launch imminently. The operator is said to have “one of the most advanced networks in the Emirates region,” including fibre-to-the-home and HSPA+ deployments, and it will now use the femtocells to overcome indoor mobile coverage issues.
