Airstrip Technologies has received a US patent covering its technology and processes for “mobilizing physiologic data to smartphones, tablets and other devices, a development that impacts both the enterprize and consumer-based mHealth ecosystem”. The patent was issued at the end of August, says the firm.

This is the company’s first patent and covers what is explained by the company’s chief medical officer Dr Cameron Powell as “taking any type of physiologic data – whether that’s from a sensor in the shoe, a home monitor, a blood pressure cuff, or a monitor in the hospital – then re-rendering it on a native or HTML5 application on a mobile device”. The mobile device is wirelessly linked to the internet through a cellular, Wi-Fi or fixed connection, he explained to MobiHealthNews.
