AT&T reveals three growth areas for Digital Life service

VIDEO INTERVIEW: US operator AT&T is eyeing a move into three growth areas for its new Digital Life ‘connected home’ service: the healthcare market, licensing the technology to international operators, and expanding into the small/medium business sector.

In a video interview with Mobile World Live, Kevin Petersen, the exec driving AT&T’s high-profile service, says Digital Life is in “great shape” following launch in more than 20 US markets and the company is already looking to expand into new areas.

“We will continue to innovate within the consumer home security and automation market but we will look to expand, go beyond… We will go into healthcare, we are licensing our service internationally to other carriers as well as move into the small/medium business sector,” he comments. “We feel there’s big opportunities across all three of these.”

Peterson didn’t reveal specific details of consumer demand since launch in April or the impact AT&T expects the service to have on ARPU, but was clearly full of optimism. “We will be in 50+ markets by the end of the year,” he said.

“I like where we stand in terms of the experience, product set and the reaction we’ve got from the public. We’re in great shape.”
