LIVE FROM CES 2014: Samsung – the industry’s number one device vendor – today expanded its lineup of tablets but it was the onstage meltdown of Hollywood director Michael Bay (pictured) that made headlines.

The director of big-budget blockbusters such as Transformers was invited onstage as part of Samsung’s unveiling of its new curved, 105-inch Ultra HD television. Bay began reading from the teleprompter but within seconds the teleprompter malfunctioned and Bay was left stranded. Joe Stinziano, EVP of Samsung America, encouraged Bay to ad lib, but Bay continued to look very uncomfortable and walked off stage apologising.

The event overshadowed a bevy of announcements from the South Korean electronics giant, including its new NotePro and TabPro portfolio of products. The NotePro features a 12.2-inch screen and comes with the S Pen, while the TabPro comes in three different screen sizes: 8.4, 10.1 and 12-2-inches.

“We created the Galaxy NotePro and TabPro series to kick-off a year in which Samsung truly establishes its leadership in the tablet market,” said JK Shin, CEO and president of Samsung’s mobile division.

Both sets of products support the Android 4.4 operating system and will be available globally within this first quarter.
