Japanese device maker Kyocera announced what it described as “the world’s first hand-soap washable smartphone”, enabling use “when washing hands or taking a bath”.

The Japanese market Digno Rafre smartphone also has a “scratch healing” back casing. It uses high-strength glass which is slightly recessed, providing durability against accidental drops.

The Android 5.1 device has a 5-inch screen and includes 4G support. It has 13MP and 2MP cameras (rear and front respectively).

Available in pink, white and dark blue, it will support operator KDDI, with pricing “to be determined by retailer”.
