HP is working with watch company Titan to create a smartwatch that the vendor said is “responsive, not intrusive”.

Titan, which is said to be the world’s fifth largest watchmaker, joined the computing company’s Engineered by HP programme. The technology company developed hardware modules, software and user interface, and is providing cloud services.

Titan is responsible for “the design and manufacturing capability of the watch, which is reflective of the brand’s rich heritage”. The company, which is a joint venture of Tata Group and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development, sells more than 15 million units annually in 32 countries.

In a statement, Titan said that products will be launched “later this year in India and select international markets”.

HP’s approach is similar to that of Intel, which is working with brands such as Fossil and Tag Heuer to power consumer smartwatches. It is also working with Movado (a deal also announced during November 2015) and Michael Bastian through Engineered by HP.
