PRESS RELEASE: Recently, China Mobile Design Institute and Huawei jointly completed the verification of an innovative wireless network energy-saving solution in Tianjin. This solution seamlessly integrates the existing intelligent energy-saving platform with Huawei’s iPowerStar energy-saving solution through OpenAPI, resulting in an additional 10% reduction in energy consumption per GB. This cost-effective energy-saving solution does not require any version customization and can eliminate approximately 7 million CNY worth of electricity fees. This achievement will contribute significantly to China Mobile’s successful efforts in energy saving and emission reduction.
As more and more wireless network NEs (Network Elements) are deployed, the network energy consumption continues to rise. According to GSMA data, operators’ energy consumption is primarily attributed to the wireless network, which accounts for approximately 73%. Differentiated energy saving policies for all sites:Tianjin has 16 districts and has industrial centers such as manufacturing, shipping, logistics, and finance. In addition, Tianjin has a large number of schools, historic interests, and commercial centers. There are many service scenarios. Therefore, manual site-by-site identification of energy-saving policies is inefficient and difficult to implement. The intelligent energy saving platform introduces the scenario-based energy saving capability, predicts the traffic volume of each cell, and accurately generates scenario-based energy saving policies based on the energy saving intention of experience priority or energy saving priority. This achieves differentiated energy saving of “one site, one policy” and brings about 5% additional energy saving gains.
All-day energy saving capability: Tianjin has a population of more than 13 million. Wireless network services are busy, and the cell load is heavy during the day. Therefore, Tianjin is a traditional energy-saving period. The intelligent energy saving platform introduces the millisecond-level energy saving capability in four domains (symbol, channel, carrier, and power). It can accurately identify co-coverage networks during busy hours, accurately model energy consumption and experience of cells on different frequency bands, and implement millisecond-level energy saving actions. The energy saving gain of the whole day is increased by 5%.
Efficient energy-saving policy optimization: Tianjin Mobile has tens of thousands of wireless sites, including cells of three RATs and nine frequency bands. Energy-saving policy optimization consumes a large amount of resources and takes a long time. As a result, the goal of daily energy-saving optimization on the entire network cannot be achieved. The intelligent energy-saving platform introduces the digital twin technology to digitally build wireless networks. With the multi-objective energy-saving iterative optimization solution, the energy-saving policy optimization of the entire network can be completed in one day on the digital twin platform, achieving “one-shot “.
