PRESS RELEASE: China Mobile Beijing and Huawei achieved a new milestone by bringing the 5G-A LampSite X solution to the Leeza SOHO tower in Beijing’s Lize Financial Business District.

Developed by Huawei, LampSite X is a new digital indoor solution, and it stands out in that one RF headend can fulfil both 4G and 5G indoor coverage based on 1.8, 2.3, 2.6, and 4.9 GHz bands. This uniqueness makes it better-positioned to help operators simplify networks in capacity-hungry indoor areas. Field tests have found a peak speed of 2.1 Gbps and an average single-user downlink speed of 1.9 Gbps based on the 200 MHz carrier aggregation (CA) that involves 100 MHz from the 2.6 GHz band and 100 MHz from the 4.9 GHz band.

The commercial expansion of 5G has led to soaring mobile traffic, especially in the indoor areas with heavy foot traffic, such as airports, railway stations, stadiums, and shopping malls, where data traffic is 100 times denser than in ordinary scenarios. The development of 5G across industries, for example, smart manufacturing and healthcare, has increased the demand for indoor 5G capacity.

Compared with traditional solutions, LampSite X eliminates the need for new pRRU installment when a new frequency is needed to boost network capacity in the indoor areas where routing cables is troubling and time-consuming and adds difficulty to site admission. This is because LampSite X employs a number of innovative technologies that strengthen multi-band ultra-wideband capabilities in a more compact and lighter hardware box.

For a new installment, one pRRU box can fulfill the huge demand for data traffic to simplify deployments. In cases where an existing site needs a new pRRU box, the optical/electrical hybrid cables can be reused, and this removes the necessity of new cabling for a new band deployment, like 4.9 GHz. By reducing pRRUs needed and cable rerouting, LampSite X will enable operators to reduce deployment costs, boost operation and maintenance efficiency, and save electricity.

Furthermore, LampSite X supports the ultra-high uplink, high-precision positioning, high reliability, and low latency required to implement the indoor 5G applications tailored to factories, manufacturing, warehouses, and logistics across businesses seeking to enhance their production and management efficiencies.

Moving forward, China Mobile Beijing will expand LampSite X to transport hubs, stadiums, shopping malls, and smart factories to upgrade indoor digitalization and bring leading 5G-A experiences to consumers and industries indoors.
