Vodafone Idea booked its strongest revenue growth since its creation in 2018 during its fiscal Q1 2023 (to end-June) on ARPU gains, while its sizeable losses narrowed marginally.

In a statement, MD and CEO Ravinder Takkar highlighted 4G subscriber gains during the quarter along with progress in its digital services, and asserted Vodafone Idea was benefitting from providing better quality voice and data services than its rivals.

“We are pleased to announce [a] fourth consecutive quarter of revenue growth”.

The figure grew 13.7 per cent year-on-year to INR104.1 billion ($1.3 billion), with ARPU up 23.4 per cent to INR128, which Vodafone Idea noted was “aided by tariff hikes”.

It’s net loss fell from INR73.1 billion to INR72.9 billion.

Vodafone Idea’s subscriber base stood at 240.4 million compared with 255.4 million, though LTE numbers were up by 6 million to 119 million.

Average data consumption of 4G users declined from 15.1GB to 14.6GB.

Gross debt stood at nearly INR2 trillion.
