Research firm Heavy Reading said that “the window of opportunity is closing quickly, and telcos must make meaningful progress in the next 12 months to prove that they belong in the digital app business and that they can compete with over-the-top app providers such as Apple and Google.” The company notes that “WAC represents a credible solution to the challenges posed by telcos’ rivals, because it offers developers a common platform for creating apps that run across devices and networks and access to more than 3 billion subscribers globally.”
