Analyst firm research2guidance said that there were 860 million application downloads in the UK during 2010, of which 105 million were paid-for products. Revenue from paid downloads was £280 million, with the company noting that “the majority of phone users are still feature phone owners who are using mobile applications not as actively as smartphone users; in the years to come this potential will be explored and will drive up market growth.”
