Monetisation player Tapjoy announced its US$5M Tapjoy Asia Fund, intended to encourage and support developers in the region in the creation of free-to-play apps for Android and iOS.

The company said it will offer financial and marketing support both to new game studios and experienced developers looking to self-publish apps. It is offering working capital, distribution, an ad market place, consulting and optimisation services, and real-time reporting.

Tapjoy said it already has offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Seoul.

Tapjoy launched a similar, Android-focused fund in the US last year, which it said resulted in 155 new apps being developed.
