Swisscom partners with Apigee for API boost

15 APR 2013

Swisscom inked a deal with API platform provider Apigee, to “drive an expanding ecosystem of apps built on Swisscom’s network-based services”.

The operator’s CTO, Heinz Herren, said that the company is committed to enabling developers to create “powerful apps built with Swisscom’s key network-based services”.

“We needed a solution that could be used across all our API initiatives, both internal and external to Swisscom. Apigee has the technology, API and industry-specific expertise to drive our company-wide commitment to APIs,” he said.

Apigee’s technology helps businesses develop, deliver and manage APIs and the apps built on them. The Enterprise version of the platform reduces the complexity of delivering APIs, drives developer adoption and provides analysis of API usage.

Apigee already works with AT&T, KT Corp, Telefonica and Vodafone.

The number of operators looking to “jump on the API bandwagon” is on the up, Chet Kapoor, CEO of Apigee, told Mobile World Live earlier this year. Watch our interview with him here.
