Nokia Siemens Networks has launched a new software platform that allows users to watch television on multiple devices such as mobile phones and Internet-connected computers. The platform lets operators provide live, recorded or on-demand TV, with features including operator-to-subscriber messaging and an open platform for creating new applications, it said. Separately, the joint network venture announced the formation of Smart Labs, aimed at improving the experience of smart device users. Smart Labs will operate from two laboratories, one in Espoo, Finland, and one in Dallas, Texas, in an attempt to boost mobile broadband usability and foster the mobile Internet ecosystem and cooperation between key stakeholders. Smart Labs will focus on the interworking between smart devices, mobile apps, and networks.
