Finland and Singapore-based mobile games developer Nonstop Games has secured $2.9 million in seed funding which it plans to use to expand operations to San Francisco.

The company specialises in free-to-play games and will also use the funding to launch its first core gaming title, strategy game Heroes of Honor, in the spring.

“We are extremely excited to be supported by world class investors in our mission to build the next generation of free-to-play games for touch devices,” said Nonstop Games CEO and co-founder Juha Paananen.

The funding round was led by venture funds Creandum and Lifeline Ventures, best known for investments in Spotify and games company Supercell.

“We’ve been extremely excited about Nonstop Games since our initial investment in 2011 and we think they are building something revolutionary with their new game,” said Lifeline Ventures’ Petteri Koponen.
