Games developer King has apparently shifted away from its Saga-branded casual games line with its latest launch, word puzzle Keyword VS.

According to apps analytics firm Distimo, the title was first seen in Canada, Netherlands and Switzerland in the middle of March 2014, and two weeks later downloads were spotted “in over a dozen countries”.

The title picked up another boost at the end of last month, when it was featured in the “best new games” selection of Apple’s App Store in the US.

Distimo said the app is “in the same vein as word puzzle games such as Mag Interactive’s Ruzzle and Zynga’s Scramble with Friends”. It is free to play, with in-app purchase support for boosters.

King’s performance is currently in the spotlight, following its IPO late last month. While Candy Crush Saga has been a breakthrough hit, the company’s long-term success hinges on its ability to produce follow-up success.

Earlier this year, Distimo said that King’s latest release, Farm Heroes Saga, made a solid debut, outpacing the two Saga titles King debuted in 2013 – Pet Rescue Saga and Papa Pear saga.
