CircleCI, which provides developers with automated testing and integration tools, raised $18 million, as it looks to “set the stage for continued growth in this year and beyond”.

The firm wants to focus on productivity and build “stellar products” for software teams. CircleCI’s platform allows developers to rapidly release code for mobile (and web) apps by automating the build, test and deploy process.

It enables developers to detect and fix bugs before they reach customers and the company claims its clients include Facebook, Kickstarter and Spotify, who use the platform “to accelerate delivery of their code and enable developers to focus on creating business value fast.”

“We want to be there for the next generation of great companies to build on CircleCI. Our funding announcement sends a strong message to our team, our users, and our partners that validates our leadership position and direction in our market,” said CEO Jim Rose.

The round was led by Scale Venture Partners with participation from existing investors DFJ, Baseline Ventures and Harrison Metal.

Andy Vitus, a partner at Scale Venture Partners, will join the company’s board.
