Analytics firm App Annie has closed a funding round totalling $15 million, which it plans to use to develop its analytics platform and drive global expansion of its operations.

App Annie offers a range of developer reports and information on trends in app stores around the world via the App Annie Indexes. It has doubled its user base over the past 12 months and tripled monthly recurring revenue.

The company said the money will go towards growing its sales and marketing team in San Francisco and expanding its offices in Europe and Asia. It currently has more than 110 employees across offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, London, San Francisco and Tokyo.

More than 300,000 apps use App Annie analytics, including 90 of the top 100 iOS publishers. The company’s store stats track more than 3.2 million apps.

The funding has been led by Sequoia Capital, with IDG Capital Partners, Greycroft Partners, e.ventures and Infinity Venture Partners also participating. Sequoia Capital partner Tim Lee joins the board of directors as part of the deal.
