Antenna Software, an enterprise-focused app developer, has acquired mobile internet software company Volantis Systems for an undisclosed sum. The company said in a statement that “the combination of Antenna’s proven mobile apps technology with the ability now to harness the power of the mobile internet, uniquely positions the company as a complete, end-to-end mobile solutions provider for enterprises and carriers.” It will also enable Antenna to address a wide user base from smartphones and tablets to browser-enabled feature phones.

The deal will apparently enable the combined company to immediately offer a “significantly broader range of mobile web solutions,” including the underlying architecture for mobile commerce and enterprise app stores. In addition to improving its mobile internet software proposition, the acquisition will also provide Antenna with a strengthened global presence, particularly across Europe and Asia-Pacific. The combined business will operate under the Antenna brand, and will continue to support Volantis’ products and customers.

Antenna recently said that it had achieved a compound annual growth rate of 52 percent in revenues and 96 percent increase in new business bookings from 2008 to 2010, noting it has 270 enterprise customers and more than 3 million end users. During 2010, it acquired Vaultus Mobile Technologies, which it said “gave Antenna the ability to greatly expand its addressable market with consumer-facing enterprise applications.”
