Mobile social gaming network PapayaMobile has released beta versions of its tools for iOS, enabling developers using its Social Game Engine to export iOS and Android games using a single code base.

The SDK also allows developers with iOS and Android versions of games to connect users on the two platforms, to enable in-game features including player challenges, invitations and leaderboards.

PapayaMobile, which has more than 30 million users on its social games network, argues that one of the reasons why the mobile industry has failed to drive social apps on the scale of the web is fragmentation of the mobile user base. Its new products aim to connect the different pockets of users to create a more useful social graph.

“While we’ve experienced great success and growth by mainly focusing on the Android platform since our launch in 2008, we feel that now is the right time to expand our offerings to the iOS market,” said Si Shen, CEO and co-founder of PapayaMobile.

Users of the tools will also get access to PapayaMobile’s Gateway to China programme, which is a free service that localises, distributes and promotes western games in China.
