Sprint touts second Android handset

US operator Sprint plans to offer its second Android-powered handset, this time announcing a deal with Samsung for sale of the South Korean vendor’s Moment smartphone. Moment will retail at US$179.99 after rebates with a two-year contract.

Industry aims to standardise audio and USB plugs

The CTIA Wireless Association is backing a drive to standardise audio and USB plugs for laptops and other mobile gadgets, reports AFP. The initiative aims to make 3.5mm plugs the standard for earphones, headphones and micro-USB connections in mobile devices introduced to the market after January 2012.

Amazon takes Kindle e-book reader worldwide

Amazon today announced that its high-profile Kindle e-reader (pictured, left) will be available outside of the US from October 19. In a statement, Amazon touted the launch to more than 100 countries, priced at US$279. The Kindle Store offers over 200,000 English-language books, typically priced less than physical editions.
