Indian 4G newcomer Reliance Jio Infocomm reportedly plans to offer consumers heavily discounted mobile Wi-Fi (Mi-Fi) devices to attract data users who don’t have 4G-enabled smartphones.

India’s 4G newcomer Reliance Jio Infocomm called on handset vendors to produce 4G smartphones locally. The operator contacted the major Indian handset vendors as well as China’s Lenovo and committed to buying all the local production, the Economic Times said.

India’s largest mobile operator Bharti Airtel has filed a complaint with the police, accusing a former employee of copying internal documents and sharing them with rival newcomer Reliance Jio Infocomm.
