AIS proposes 3G network sharing plan with TOT

Thai operator Advanced Info Service (AIS) has reportedly approached Thai regulators about sharing part of Thai Mobile’s 1900MHz bandwidth in a bid to help the new 3G operator rollout its network more quickly.

DTAC boss hints at delay to 3G network

The new chief executive of Thailand’s second-largest mobile operator, DTAC, has hinted that rollout of the operator’s long-awaited 3G network could be delayed until the latter half of next year. Bangkok Post reports that DTAC had originally planned to rollout the network in Bangkok, Chon Buri and Phuket in first-quarter 2009 but new CEO Tore Johnsen says it may now wait until it sees stronger demand for mobile data.

DTAC to test 3G services in 850MHz band

Telecompaper, citing a Bangkok Post report, notes that Thai mobile operator DTAC plans to trial 3G services in the 850MHz band, as well as using 2100MHz frequencies.

Vodafone partners with DTAC

Vodafone has added Thailand’s DTAC to its list of Partner Market operators. Across Asia, Vodafone has similar agreements in Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia and Sri Lanka, with additional equity investments in India, Australia, New Zealand, China and Fiji
