Hackers stole more than 60 million user account details from storage platform Dropbox, including passwords, in a security breach that was first revealed in 2012.

Dropbox will shut down two of its apps, email service Mailbox and photo sharing app Carousel, next year. Mailbox, acquired by Dropbox in 2013, will close in February 2016 while Carousel will shut in March.

A number of enterprise app companies have committed to standardise public applications and development with ACE (App Configuration for Enterprise), an “open and vendor-neutral” set of standards intended to help businesses deploy secure business apps to users.

Productivity app maker Dropbox has partnered with Microsoft to enable users of Office mobile apps to access the online storage service, and to develop a Windows Phone version of the Dropbox app.

Dropbox made a host of app announcements designed to reflect its evolution from online storage and sharing to become what the company describes as “a home for life”.

Online storage player Dropbox is looking to secure investment that would value the company at $8 billion, reports Bloomberg. Sources said talks with potential investors to secure $250 million in funding are at an early stage.
