For example, according to a previous Rethink Research study, seamless quality of service across multiple networks can shave an average 2.2 percentage points off a typical annual churn of up to 20% – generating an additional $40m in revenue and $22m in profit over three years for a typical top operator.

  • Enterprise HetNet business models are more mature than consumer ones.
  • Intelligent Wi-Fi offload helps deliver a consistent, continuous and high-quality experience across heterogeneous networks combining Wi-Fi and 4G/LTE.

Lonnie Schilling CEO BirdstepLonnie Schilling brings 20 years of experience of equity investment, strategic business development, architecture sales and marketing within the international communications market. He was most recently Director, Mobile Service Provider Sales & Business Development, at Cisco and he has also held leading management positions in other global companies such as Motorola, ITT, Worldview Technology Partners, Bolt Beranek and Newman (BBN). Schilling holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland. He completed graduate and postgraduate studies at the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology, the International Institute for Management Development, INSEAD and the Marshall School of Business at USC.

Caroline GabrielCaroline Gabriel co-founded Rethink Technology Research in 2002 to focus on emerging mobile technologies. Rethink recently combined its published research activities with those of fellow 4G analyst company, Maravedis, to focus on LTE and operator strategies.
Caroline has been analysng and reporting in the hi-tech industries since 1986 and has a wealth of experience of technology trends and how they impact on business models. She started her career as a technology journalist and then took senior roles in online publishing and research before focusing full time on wireless industry research and consultancy.
Maravedis-Rethink focuses on the network deployments and strategies of the top 100 4G operators round the world. It assesses their business cases and investments in wireless infrastructure and associated software, with particular focus on LTE. This research underpins the RAN Research Service as well as bespoke and consultancy work with operators, vendors and investors.

In the last few years Justin has launched and grown a portfolio of premier media products, which include the Mobile World Congress Show Dailies (Mobile World Daily), the daily e-newsletter Mobile Business Briefing and the Mobile Apps Briefing news service (these latter two are now integrated within Mobile World Live). He started his career in telecoms journalism in 1999 as deputy editor of Mobile Europe. Since then he has launched and edited numerous telecoms publications, most recently serving as senior European editor of Unstrung (now Light Reading Mobile). Justin has a BA (Hons) degree in Journalism from the University of Sheffield.
