Webinar – Turning the HetNet Into Profit: The Importance of a Faultless Experience

Birdstep, a global technology company developing HetNet optimisation tools for operators, has commissioned a research study connecting with over 40 operators around the world, looking at how they view a HetNet strategy and how they feel they can monetise HetNets.

With the explosion in mobile data traffic and the large and growing role of Wi-Fi, a HetNet strategy seems imperative for any operator – to minimise network capex, retain high
ARPU and reduce churn.

‘MVNOs will monetize HetNets by 2017 with analytics as a key enabler…’

______________________________________________________________________________

For example, according to a previous Rethink Research study, seamless quality of service across multiple networks can shave an average 2.2 percentage points off a typical annual churn of up to 20% – generating an additional $40m in revenue and $22m in profit over three years for a typical top operator.

Key questions addressed by the speakers will include:

  • How to extend reach to any mobile device with intelligent offload
  • How to understand user behaviour through application of intelligent data analytics
  • Laying the foundations for network, device and content policies enabling intelligent Network Selection
  • How some operators have built an intelligent and sustainable HetNet strategy

Key study findings include:

  • Impact of Wi-Fi offload on business models is still low, however two-thirds of MNOs want full integration with Cellular by 2017.
  • Both Wi-Fi and mobile operators want HetNets for churn reduction, new QoS enabled revenues and improved Experience Continuity.
  • 77% of MVNOs see seamless handoff as priority, 68% state Intelligent Network Selection while 54% see security as a key challenge.
  • Standards such as ANDSF help build HetNets but are not enough on their own to deliver all operators’ objectives.
  • Enterprise HetNet business models are more mature than consumer ones.
  • Intelligent Wi-Fi offload helps deliver a consistent, continuous and high-quality experience across heterogeneous networks combining Wi-Fi and 4G/LTE.

The webinar will cover in detail the key first step: understanding how users are really behaving through intelligent application of big data analytics. This is the foundation for network, device and content policies that enable Intelligent Network Selection and mean an optimal, seamless experience.

Who should attend?
Operators in Asia and Europe looking to develop or strengthen a true HetNet strategy, based on near-real-time data.
Operators and service providers looking for the best way to combine Wi-Fi and 4G effectively to achieve maximum coverage with high quality of service (QoS) at the least possible cost.
