So much attention today is paid to increasing energy efficiency as a way of going green, yet sustainable production is an equally important consideration for the ICT industry. Whilst many companies are increasing energy efficiencies, fewer focus on toxic waste, and even fewer get top marks for making absolute reductions in their own greenhouse gas emissions from the product manufacture and supply chain.

Many elements need to be considered early on in the production process, from the selection of raw materials to how design decisions may affect the green credentials of a product further on in it’s life-cycle. A "cradle-to-grave" approach, combined with recognition of international regulations help in reducing the ICT production footprint.
