Japanese market leader NTT Docomo outlined at the GSMA Mobile Asia Congress how it plans to ramp-up its LTE rollout and introduce new billing services in order to cope with the rising demand for data in one of the world's most advanced mobile markets. CEO Ryuji Yamada said that Docomo will have extended its new ‘Xi’ LTE network to cover 98 percent of the Japanese population by FY2014, investing some JPY880 billion (US$11.4 billion) in the network over the next five years. “Mobile operators must take proper measures against the huge growth in data traffic,” he said.
