Yahoo shareholder urges sale of search to Microsoft
Reuters notes that Ivory Investment Management LP, which owns 1.5 percent of shares in Yahoo, urged the Internet company to sell its search business to Microsoft, saying such a deal could more than double Yahoo’s value.
Dow Jones reports that struggling Internet giant Yahoo on Wednesday began handing out pink slips to approximately 1,500 employees, part of a previously announced effort to reduce its workforce by 10 percent and slash costs by about US$400 million a year.
Sarin set to rule out Yahoo move

Microsoft and Yahoo executives meet
The New York Times reports that Microsoft’s chief executive, Steve Ballmer, met in New York earlier this week with Roy J. Bostock, Yahoo’s chairman, prompting speculation that negotiations over a Web search deal between the two companies could be restarting.
