Orascom Telecom, the biggest mobile phone operator in the Middle East and North Africa, has set up a new unit, Telecel Globe, to evaluate investment opportunities in Africa and Asia.

EIB finances Telecel

The European Investment Bank will provide €68.5 million to Telefonica Celular del Paraguay (Telecel) to part-finance the expansion of its GSM network structure, reports TelecomPaper. The remaining funds will come from commercial banks and Telecel’s own resources.
