Airtel Tanzania ups mobile money play
Airtel Tanzania united with I&M Bank Tanzania in launching a mobile money service which allows customers to make payments without having sufficient funds in their digital wallets, in an aim to boost financial inclusion in the African country.
Airtel Africa set for $175M Tanzania tower sale
Airtel Africa pushed on with a strategy of selling passive infrastructure assets to cut debt, agreeing to offload 1,400 towers in Tanzania for $175 million. The buyer is a joint venture formed by investment companies SBA Communications and Paradigm Infrastructure.
Millicom concludes Africa exit
Millicom agreed to sell its operations in Tanzania and divest its stake in the AirtelTigo joint venture in Ghana operated with Bharti Airtel, completing the final chapter of its long-running strategy to exit Africa and concentrate on Latin America.
