Rovio embraces ads with Angry Birds for Android launch
Finnish games developer Rovio has announced the full release of its anticipated Angry Birds for Android app, extending availability of the popular iOS title to the Android user base. Unlike the iOS incarnation, where a “lite” version is available free-of-charge and a full version on a paid-for basis, the full version for Android is available free to the user, supported by advertising served by Google’s AdMob.
2010 has been the year of Angry Birds in mobile gaming, with over 20 million total downloads. Mobile Apps Briefing talks with the CEO of the game’s developer, Rovio, on the success of the app and its future plans. “We have created an entertainment brand, which we intend to develop into a long-lasting one,” says the head man.
