I-telecom launches Uganda’s sixth mobile network

I-telecom has commercially launched its new mobile network in Uganda, becoming the country’s sixth mobile operator and first CDMA-based player.

Mozambique’s third mobile license tender should be ready by December, according to a report by Reuters (cited by TeleGeography). According to Wireless Intelligence, mcel (Mozambique Cellular) has a 69 percent market share with 4.2 million connections, followed by rival Vodacom.

Israel’s big guns withdraw bids for Motorola’s Mirs

Cellcom and Partner (Orange) – Israel’s two largest mobile operators – have both pulled out of bidding for their smaller rival Mirs communications, Motorola’s Israeli subsidiary that is up for sale.

Meditel says no listing yet

TeleGeography, citing a Reuters report, notes that Moroccan GSM operator Meditel has responded to local newspaper reports of a possible stock market listing by saying that it has no immediate plans for a flotation.
