India has again been linked to the future sale of LTE spectrum, despite the country’s 3G auctions only just beginning.
India 3G auction price hits INR40.85B
The bidding for radio bandwidth to offer 3G services across India resumed on the second day of the auctions (Saturday), with the price of one slot touching INR40.85 billion (US$923.2 million) at the end of a total of 10 rounds.
Reports suggest the Indian government has further delayed the launch of mobile number portability services to end-June, 2010.
All applicants qualify for Indian 3G, BWA auctions
Dow Jones Newswires notes that all nine applicants, including telecom majors Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications, Vodafone Essar and Idea Cellular, have qualified for the final auction of Indian radio bandwidth to offer 3G services, a notice on the Department of Telecommunications’ website showed Tuesday.
