Indian regulator TRAI is attempting to curb the country’s tariff wars that are threatening to seriously damage operator profitability, according to a report in The Financial Express.
TeleGeography, citing India’s Economic Times, reports that the country’s Department of Telecommunications is once again preparing to delay the date for its 3G auction. It is understood that the sale date could be pushed back to mid-February 2009, from a current planned date of 14 January.
India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has announced that its long-awaited auction of 3G and WiMAX-capable Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum will begin on 14 January next year. The start date is about a month later than anticipated. In a revised memorandum document published late last week, the DoT said the auction will be conducted in four stages.
