Japan’s Docomo, NEC, Panasonic Mobile and Fujitsu have announced that they are making progress with their joint development of ‘LTE-PF,’ a mobile terminal platform based on LTE, reports Cellular News.

Nortel will now sell GSM business
Nortel Networks is to sell its GSM and GSM-R (GSM for Railways) businesses by auction, including relevant patents. Bidders are required to submit offers by 5 November, with the auction planned to begin on 9 November.

Telefonica to trial LTE in six countries
Telefonica yesterday announced plans to trial LTE technology in six countries across Europe and Latin America, as the operator giant mulls its commercial next-generation network plans. The chosen countries are Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Spain, the Czech Republic and the UK, whilst the six vendors picked for the trials are Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei, NEC, Nokia Siemens Networks and ZTE.
