China Mobile has started the second round of TD-SCDMA network construction in select provincial capitals with Changsha, Hunan, having already entered the basestation testing stage, reports China Communications.
Interfax-China reports that China Mobile has received approval to expand its TD-SCDMA coverage to more cities across the country, a deployment analysts believe could increase subscribers from 50,000 at the end of June to 2.31 million by the end of 2008.
China Mobile recorded 1 million viewers clicking 7 million times to watch more than 300,000 hours of its licensed Olympic mobile TV coverage by August 19, reports JLM Pacific Epoch, citing Chinese news agency Xinhua.
China Mobile – the world’s largest mobile operator by subscribers – today unveiled a 44.7 percent increase in first-half net profit and appeared to confirm industry belief that it will deploy TD-SCDMA technology for its commercial nationwide 3G networks followed by a later move to LTE.
China Daily reports that mobile operator-in-waiting China Telecom’s first half year net profit fell 8.2 percent to RMB12.63 billion (US$1.85 billion) from RMB13.76 billion a year earlier because of another significant decline in its core fixed-line voice services.
