KARACHI: Banks are allowed to make customers using non-financial entities as agents but must bear responsibility of any violation of anti-money laundering and other compliance regulations, Deputy Governor SBP Yaseen Anwar said on Thursday.Speaking at the third International Mobile Conference held here, he urged commercial banks to promote financial inclusion without compromising safety and soundness of the overall banking system.SBP is also considering a telecommunication company led model of branchless banking, he said, adding this take the business beyond the supervisory role of central bank.“We may need to establish, as in some countries, a National Payments Council that will include other stakeholders to regulate this rapidly expanding business sector,” he said.
