US operator Alltel said that it added 1 million gross customers and 335,152 net customers in its third-quarter, bringing its total customer base to 13.8 million, up from 12.4 million in the year-ago quarter. Revenues were US$2.5 billion, a 10 percent increase over the year-ago quarter. However, the company recorded a US$55.2 million loss due primarily to an increase in costs following the completion of its November 2007 merger with an affiliate of TPG Capital and GS Capital Partners.
