Canada-based patent holding company, Mosaid Technologies, has announced that it is suing the US arms of HTC and Sony Ericsson for allegedly infringing three US patents relating to the emergency 911 (E-911) standard. According to Cellular News, Mosaid acquired the patent portfolio in early 2011. The patents enable mobile devices to transmit the phone’s geographic location when the user makes an emergency 911 call.
