Microsoft’s next-generation operating system, Windows 10, will gain support for host card emulation (HCE), according to an NFC World report.

The new technology, which will be added to the mobile version of the cross-device platform, will be included alongside ongoing support of SIM-based secure element (SE), with “improved payment integration flows to enable coexistence of HCE with UICC-based SE,” according to a presentation document cited by the publication.

Microsoft has also promised “alignment with Visa, MasterCard and AMEX”.

Google added support for HCE in Android 4.4, which debuted late in 2013.
