UK m-commerce venture Weve has picked the Logic Group to design and build a loyalty and coupon pilot to launch later this year.

The UK vendor will build the central database to support Weve’s first loyalty pilot that will be delivered via its mobile wallet later in 2013.

The data derived from the pilot will guide future development of Weve’s loyalty service.

In addition, the Logic Group is helping the m-commerce venture with what it calls business development activities around its loyalty scheme. It will also provide consultancy around the merchant point-of-sale, it said.

Weve is a joint venture between the UK’s three leading mobile operators – Vodafone, O2 and EE – which aims to launch a range of services starting with mobile advertising but also including areas such as loyalty, coupons and, ultimately, payments.

Loyalty schemes are an important part of Weve’s strategy, which they hope can be made more attractive via a mobile device. It also hopes to open up such schemes to small retailers which typically do not offer them to shoppers at present, said Tony Moretta, Weve’s marketing director, during this week’s Tomorrow’s Transactions event.
