Ensygnia’s Onescan technology was among the innovations shown off by high-end UK supermarket Waitrose in a showcase at a new store in Swindon.

The UK firm is positioning its technology as the means to speed up in-store transactions, as well as enabling faster online purchases.

The showcase had a number of digital screens and iPads available for shoppers, as well as the new Waitrose App that delivers personalised offers to smartphones.

Ensygnia’s Onescan technology was shown as a proof-of-concept application, allowing customers to scan and pay for goods from any of the iPad screens in the store. Paying in this way enables shoppers to bypass the checkout queue, which also benefits the retailer.
