Turkish operator Turkcell has introduced the third T series NFC Android smartphone, confirming its support for an own-brand approach. The new T11 (pictured) is the latest version of the Turkcell-backed T series and supports the operator’s Cep-T Cüzdan mobile wallet. The NFC-based T series has so far sold more than 300,000 units, says the operator, making it the second most popular smartphone in the country. The operator has previously launched two handsets in the series, the T10 and T20. Both were launched last year and manufactured by Huawei. The T11 is made by another Chinese vendor, ZTE. The new model will cost TL389 (US$213) which Turkcell describes as being the same price as "a regular mobile phone." In addition to its own-brand NFC handsets, Turkcell is also backing other smartphones that can make mobile payments. Last week it extended its mobile wallet to users of the BlackBerry 9900.

In addition to its NFC capabilities, the new T11 features a 2.8-inch touchscreen and 3.2 megapixel digital zoom camera. It weighs 100 grams and has a RAM of 256 MB. Turkcell’s Cep-T Cüzdan mobile wallet application comes pre-loaded on the new handset which runs version 2.3.5 of the Android OS.
