Thailand’s state-owned operator TOT is to launch three money services for smartphone users before the end of March next year, according to the Bangkok Post.

The three services will be offered under the Just Pay brand by mobile subsidiary ACT Mobile. They are mobile wallet, point-of-sale and information management services.

The wallet service enables subscribers with Android-based smartphones to make online transactions via their devices, including bill payment.

Mobile point-of-sale services typically enable retailers to accept card payments using smartphones or tablets with a card reader attached.

Finally, mobile information management allow retailers to “manage and access real-time online statistical reports on government websites for efficient management of their accounting”.

Apirak Preechayasomboon, ACT Mobile’s acting chief executive, said his company is in talks with several banks for joint provision of its mobile money services.
