US vendor Telesign agreed with Swisscom, the country’s leading operator, to develop new mobile identity services intended to boost online account security, verify financial and e-commerce transactions and tackle fraud.

Telesign’s solutions identify users based on key attributes of their mobile number, device and behaviour.  The partnership will take Swisscom’s identity insights and feed them into TeleSign’s verification APIs and the data and analytics behind phone numbers around the world, said the announcement.

“Identity Services are the latest addition in our OTT portfolio where we aspire to link telco identity with online accounts such as banking or social networking to prevent fraud, and with e-commerce sites and apps to enable fast and secure checkouts,” said Dheeraj Soni, Head of OTT services at Swisscom.

Telesign is Swisscom’s first partner in launching its range of identity services.

The first services to result from the new partnership will become available in 2016.
