Visa announced a bevy of merchants who are supporting its online and m-commerce service.

Starbucks, Walgreens, NFL Shop, HSN and Match are among the online merchants signed up for Visa Checkout. And Walmart.com will begin supporting the service later this year.

Consumers who have already inputted their credit card details using the Visa service just have to log in and then click a button to complete a purchase with one of the retailers. There’s no need to re-enter payment and billing information, which simplifies transactions especially on mobile devices.

Gaining support from Starbucks and Walmart is interesting because both have been notable for developing their own payment services. However, both are concentrating on services for physical payments at the point of sale in their own stores, rather than online transactions.

“Delivering a seamless payment experience for our customers is a priority for us,” said Ryan Records, vice president of Starbucks global card, commerce & payment.

“Integrating Visa Checkout as a way to reload your Starbucks card in our world-class digital platforms is a great way to provide our customers with the reload options that are most convenient and relevant to them.”

Once reloaded, users can use their Starbucks virtual cards for making payments via a smartphone in the coffee chain’s outlets.
