Starbucks has updated its Android app for customers in the US, UK and Canada with a number of new features, including the ability to tip their barista, as well as its ‘shake to pay’ feature.

The coffee chain updated its iOS app with the same new features in March.

Digital tipping, said the company, has long been a favourite suggestion by customers, which has now been adopted in the app.

The feature is available at more than 7,000 company-operated stores in the US.

In addition, customers can bring the barcode of their Starbucks Card, which is used for payment, onto their smartphone screen more easily just by shaking the mobile device.
