A debut for Samsung’s payments service in the UK has been delayed by negotiations with the country’s banks, said The Telegraph.

The report does not spell out exactly why talks with financial institutions have held back a debut. Samsung Pay has been deployed successfully in eleven countries to date, with no mentions of slowness around negotiations with financial institutions.

The company confirmed a 2017 launch date for the UK, without commenting about reasons for delay.

It has previously talked about bringing its payment service to the UK in 2016.

Rivals Apple and Google have both already debuted in the country without any talk of delay.

The report said Samsung is believed to have been tied up in negotiations with banks, without any more detail.
